Shift Timings & Days: (Sunday) 07:00 am - 03:00 pm (Monday - Thursday) 07:00 am - 11:00 am

Reports to: Program Manager

Compensation: (Grid 1) $22.51- $24.08


Job Summary:

Workingas part of the kitchen team, the Kitchen Helper at Phoenix Society isresponsible for food preparation. Key responsibilities include: preparing mealingredients; maintaining a clean kitchen area; cleaning dishes and cookinginstruments; and loading items for transport to the Society's various locationsin a safe, timely manner.


Responsibilities:

Food Services

  • Preparemeal ingredients for cooks, including washing, peeling, cutting and slicingingredients
  • Assist kitchen staff to unload food supplies fromdelivery trucks
  • Store ingredients and food items according to foodsafety standards
  • Remove expired or spoiled ingredients from therefrigerator, freezer and stockroom
  • Clean and store all dishes, utensils and cookinginstruments
  • Pack take-out orders as needed
  • Load, items for transport to the Society's varioushousing locations in a safe, timely manner
  • Sanitize food service equipment (e.g., Cambrocarts) when they are returned from meal service delivery
  • Remove garbage/compost, replace garbage/compostbags and wash garbage/compost bins
  • Mop and sweep kitchen areas as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • HighSchool diploma or equivalent
  • 1to 3 years of experience in food preparation, cleaning, or equivalent
  • Satisfactorycompletion of a criminal records check with vulnerable sector screening isrequired
  • Satisfactorycompletion of Tuberculosis Screen form is required
  • Satisfactorycompletion of Employee Immunization Record form is required
  • FirstAid certification with CPR is required
  • FoodSafe Level 1 is required
