Job description

Description:

Position starts at $24.00 with annual merit increases and production bonuses. All team members are eligible for a variety of career development and skill training classes at no cost and can enjoy a generous team member discount. SUMMARY

Operates a tractor trailer and on occasion operate a straight truck with capacity of less than thirteen tons to transport donated materials to and from specified destinations by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES are listed below in order of importance, from most important to least important.

Inspects contents of drop and hook trailers to ensure they are properly loaded and secured prior to moving them to or from GOC.

Coordinates with the Transportation & Logistics Supervisor and Store Management regarding daily store deliveries.
Drives tractor to stores and switches existing drop and hook trailer with new one.
Replaces overflow trailers at stores and ADCโ€™s with new trailers.

Loads bins, gaylords and other items into truck, distributing weight evenly, forming a compact load and securing materials during transit.

Drives truck to destinations and collection sites and drops off and/or picks up materials.

Maintains a truck log indicating arrival and departure times.

Removes donated items and trash from collection sites to maintain the site in a clean and orderly condition.

Unloads merchandise from trucks and donation centers and moves to designated area.

Inspects truck equipment and supplies in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) pre-trip requirements.

Reports truck malfunctions or problems to the Director, Transportation & Logistics and ensures that mechanical issues are corrected prior to driving.

Reports known or suspected security and/or theft problems to the Director, Transportation & Logistics or other member of management.

Obeys and follows applicable traffic laws.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Empties trash bins and transports to disposal area.

Works cooperatively with the rehabilitation staff to provide guidance to persons served assigned to the work area.

Performs other job-related tasks as assigned by the Transportation & Logistics Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

No formal education required. One years' experience as a combination tractor trailer driver or successful completion of tractor trailer school.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid Driver's License (Class A; CDL) and a safe driving record (as determined by the Agency's insurance carrier).
