Job description

The Library, Library Services | Digital Initiatives & Innovation Engagement Innovation Office seeks a parttime Digital Media & Web Specialist to execute approved digital media, audiovisual, and website updates in support of library communications, outreach, and events. This position focuses on producing and implementing content and updates developed under the Digital Initiatives & Innovation Engagement Librarian's direction.

Essential Functions

  • The incumbent will carry out assigned tasks independently and accurately, following established guidelines, timelines, and workflows
  • This position is execution-focused rather than strategic
  • Planning, scheduling, content selection, branding oversight, and interdepartmental coordination are managed by the Digital Initiatives & Innovation Engagement Librarian
  • The incumbent supports these efforts through accurate, timely implementation

Audiovisual & Digital Content Execution:

  • Produce, edit, and format audiovisual content (video, graphics, short-form media) based on approved concepts, themes, and directions provided by the supervisor
  • Edit and prepare content for social media, digital displays, and promotional use in accordance with provided specifications.

Social Media & Outreach Support:

  • Prepare social media assets (reels, graphics, captions formatted for platform use) for review and approval
  • Ensure all content aligns with Barry University brand and marketing guidelines as provided
  • Make revisions to content as requested following supervisory review.

Website Content Updates:

  • Implement approved website updates using the library's content management system (CMS), including:
    • Text edits
    • Image and media placement
    • Page layout adjustments within existing templates
  • Follow website update plans and priorities established by the supervisor in coordination with library staff
  • Confirm accuracy, accessibility, and consistency of published updates.

Collaboration & Administrative Support:

  • Communicate regularly with the supervising librarian regarding task progress, deadlines, and deliverables
  • Communicate with the library's team, including the Library Director and staff.
  • Track assigned work and meet established timelines
  • Perform related duties as assigned in support of Innovation Office initiatives

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in digital media, Communications, Web Design or related field required.
  • 1-3 years previous experience.
  • Demonstrated experience producing audiovisual or digital content
  • Experience using creative software (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud or comparable tools)
  • Experience updating websites using a content management system
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established guidelines and directions
  • Ability to manage assigned tasks independently within defined scopes
  • Experience working in higher education, libraries, nonprofits, or institutional settings preferred
  • Familiarity with digital accessibility considerations
  • Experience executing content based on brand or marketing guidelines preferred.
  • Comfort working within structured workflows and approval processes.
