Job description

Staff Designer — Luxury Residential & Commercial Interior Design Firm (Malibu, CA)

Hybrid | Part-Time Remote with Weekly Meetings in Office

About Us

Barbara Grushow Designs is an established, award-winning interior design firm based in Malibu with twenty years of experience in high-end residential remodels, rebuilds, and new construction, along with large luxury commercial projects. We're a busy, collaborative studio, and we're looking for a Staff Designer who can hit the ground running.

The Role

You'll work directly with the principal designer and project team on active projects from concept through installation. This is a hybrid position — work remotely with required weekly in-person meetings at our Malibu office.

Responsibilities

  • Develop space plans and furniture plans for residential and commercial interior design projects
  • Creatively source materials, finishes, and furnishings; obtain and track samples
  • Organize and maintain FF&E, project samples and binders.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, vendors, architects, and contractors
  • Support the team with project-related administrative tasks

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a staff or junior designer in a residential design firm
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is required
  • Experience with Studio Webware, Photoshop, and SketchUp is a plus
  • Self-starter who is highly motivated, detail-oriented, and thrives with minimal supervision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to attend weekly meetings in Malibu

Why Join Us

You'll get direct exposure to high-end clientele and full-scope projects — not just drafting in a back room. If you're ready to grow with a firm where your work is seen and your ideas are heard, we'd love to meet you.

To apply: Please submit your resume and portfolio
