What is a part time dental hygiene instructor?

Part time dental hygiene instructors are licensed dental professionals who teach students in dental hygiene programs on a part-time basis. They may deliver lectures, supervise clinical practice, and assess student performance. Their role is essential in providing hands-on training and up-to-date knowledge in dental hygiene, often balancing their teaching with work in clinical practice or other educational responsibilities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time dental hygiene instructor?

To thrive as a Part Time Dental Hygiene Instructor, you need a current dental hygiene license, a degree in dental hygiene or a related field, and substantial clinical experience. Familiarity with dental practice management software, digital radiography systems, and teaching platforms such as learning management systems is typically required. Strong communication, mentorship abilities, and organizational skills help instructors effectively guide students and foster a positive learning environment. These skills ensure that students receive high-quality education and are well-prepared for clinical practice.

How does a part time dental hygiene instructor typically collaborate with full-time faculty and contribute to curriculum development?

Part-time dental hygiene instructors often work closely with full-time faculty by participating in department meetings, sharing feedback on course content, and assisting with the implementation of curriculum updates. While they may not lead curriculum design, their practical experience and day-to-day classroom insights are valuable for refining teaching materials and clinical protocols. Collaboration usually involves mentoring students during labs, coordinating schedules, and aligning teaching approaches to ensure consistency across the program. This teamwork helps maintain high educational standards and provides a well-rounded learning experience for students.

Dental Hygienist

Our organization is seeking a Part-Time Dental Hygienist to become a valuable member of our team.

Location: 1001 Stadium Dr Ste 120, Wake Forest, North Carolina 27587

Schedule: Wednesdays and Fridays from 6:45 AM to 4 PM

Why Join Us?

We are the largest dental support organization in the country, offering non-clinical administrative assistance to over 3,000 affiliated dentists across 39 states and the District of Columbia, operating in more than 1,900 dental practices. Each office we support is tailored to its community and the patients it serves. Our affiliated dentists lead their practices, maintain full clinical independence, and develop their own care philosophies. All team members share a common mission: to provide the highest standard of dental care and exceptional patient experiences.

In states such as Connecticut, Maryland, North Carolina, Nevada, and Washington, hygienists work for a supported professional corporation and are not directly employed by our organization.

As a Dental Hygienist, you will be recognized as a top-tier clinical provider and advocate for patients. You will play a crucial role in the patient care team, ensuring that your patients receive the time and attention they need and deserve. With our comprehensive Hygiene mentor program and outstanding educational resources, you will be fully supported in delivering exceptional lifelong care to your patients!

What You’ll Gain
  • Attractive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement savings plans, six paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO).
  • Opportunities for continuing education to help you reach your full potential and enhance your clinical skills for patient education and care.
  • Access to a vast network of mentors, offering 1:1 hygiene mentorship and networking opportunities at your convenience.
  • Exceptional business support along with high-quality supplies and laboratories to ensure outstanding patient care.
  • Chance to be part of a stable organization with over 20 years of industry-leading experience, offering a secure career path with unlimited growth potential.
About the Office

This practice, like all our supported offices, is tailored to the community and the patients it serves. With the backing of a dedicated practice manager, a skilled team, and a nationwide network of professionals, you will have access to the resources, mentorship, and support necessary for career advancement.

Why You’ll Love This Office:
  • Become part of a collaborative team that prioritizes teamwork, communication, and exceptional patient care.
  • Experience a welcoming, patient-centered environment where clinical excellence and quality care are paramount.
  • Enjoy the support, stability, and professional development opportunities that come with being part of our network.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid dental hygienist license in North Carolina and an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene (as required).
  • Strong understanding of dentistry, dental hygiene procedures, patient screening, and medical history documentation.
  • Current CPR Certification.
Preferred Experience
  • 2-3 years of clinical experience.
  • Familiarity with Velscope, Diagnodent, digital scanners, digital x-rays, and electronic medical record systems.
  • Willingness to continue learning and enhancing clinical skills to meet patient needs and provide preventative care.
  • Ability to address clinical needs as required by the office.
Physical Requirements
  • Capability to perform essential duties as required by the office or supervising doctor, with or without reasonable accommodations. Adjustments may be made to assist individuals with disabilities in fulfilling the essential functions of the role.
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 45 pounds occasionally.
  • Willingness to participate in virtual or in-person training sessions periodically throughout the year.
  • To ensure a safe and healthy environment for both team members and patients, a tuberculosis (TB) test is mandatory for all new hires in dental office roles. This standard requirement must be completed before starting employment. Arrangements for the test will be made during the pre-employment process, with necessary guidance provided. This requirement does not apply in Florida and Tennessee.
Who Are We?

We are the largest dental support organization in the nation, providing non-clinical administrative support to over 3,000 affiliated dentists across 39 states and the District of Columbia, in more than 1,900 dental offices. Each office we support is distinct to its community and the patients it serves. Our affiliated dentists lead their practices and maintain clinical autonomy, all united by a shared goal: to deliver the highest quality dental care and experiences to their communities.

We are dedicated to upholding our core values that promote diversity and inclusion. We ensure that all employees and applicants receive the protections of federal, state, and local laws that guarantee equal employment opportunities.
