Positive Impact Health Centers (PIHC) is a community leader in providing HIV prevention, care and treatment services located in Metro Atlanta. The PIHC model of care assures that clients have access to medical, pharmacy, dental, behavioral health and social services, providing the best opportunity for patients to achieve high-quality health outcomes. Services are provided on-site and through telehealth.


Job Summary: The Part-Time Dental Hygienist has an excellent working knowledge of dentistry and dental hygiene procedures. They have a friendly attitude and the ability to promote good oral health practices. Dental Hygienist duties revolve around conducting initial client screenings, cleaning teeth (e.g. removing plaque) and advising clients on oral health and preventative care. The Hygienist must be reliable and able to build trust with clients as well as have knowledge of health and safety rules and for oral diseases and anomalies.

Requirements:
  • Ensures patients feel as comfortable as possible before their examination
  • Conducts initial mouth screenings and check oral health history
  • Identifies conditions like gingivitis or periodontitis. Cleans and helps protect clients’ teeth (e.g. remove plaque or apply fluoride)
  • Educates clients on proper tooth care (by demonstrating, for example, good brushing techniques)
  • Gives instructions to clients after dental procedures
  • Take X-rays or dental impressions
  • Assists Dentists with selecting appropriate treatments for various diseases
  • Maintains documentation and charts on each client
  • Monitors supplies and coordinates re-ordering as needed
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Experienced in working with culturally diverse populations
  • Must have great communication skills, (writing, spelling, listening and speaking) and interpersonal skills
  • Must have strong computer and database system skills, and have a positive, friendly and helpful demeanor
  • Must have excellent customer service skills and warm personality
  • Proven experience as Dental Hygienist
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations in this profession (e.g. HIPAA)
  • Experience in sterilizing, preparing and maintaining dental equipment

Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of two years of Dental Hygiene experience is preferred.
  • Dentrix software experience is preferred.
  • Previous experience with HIV and/or Infectious Disease is preferred

Licensure: Active, unrestricted dental hygiene license in the state of Georgia


Certification: Current CPR certification
