Job description

General Summary The Mechanic works at the BREC Maintenance Workshop and on site at BREC facilities performing repair and maintenance work on a variety of BREC equipment and vehicles ranging from light to heavy equipment, maintaining work records, instructing other staff in the use and maintenance of equipment. Requirements and Job Specifications Education Required:High School diploma or equivalent and Vo-tech school diploma or Associates Degree in related field; Preferred: Bachelors Degree in related field Area of Study (Major): Automobile Repair and Maintenance Certification(s) Required: Must be able to obtain an ASE Mechanic Certification in at least one (1) relevant category or factory certified training from relevant equipment manufacturer within 6 months of hire. License(s) Required: Valid LA driver's license.

Years Relevant Work Experience: Five (5) years of experience in auto repair shop, dealership and/or equipment dealer/service shop. Equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: General knowledge of hydraulic systems Mechanical knowledge of gas & diesel motors and equipment Good attention to detail/communication/interpersonal skills Must have a positive attitude with the willingness and desire to learn new skills Ability to adjust to changing work demands, procedures, technology, and/or priorities Skill in the care and use of tools for mechanical maintenance and repair work Ability to diagnose engine and drive problems Ability to properly repair and rebuild engines & machinery Ability to lift and carry up to and approximately 100lbs.

Ability to drive and/or operate to test equipment Ability to read and write the English language and prepare reports Ability to work independently and accurately Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public Ability to follow written and oral instructions Functions and Duties Performing routine repairs, including overhauls, of mowing equipment and various parks and facilities maintenance equipment such as: small two cycle trimmers, bulldozers, dump trucks, light and heavy mowing equipment Repairing light and heavy diesel engines, regular gasoline engines, hydraulic systems Ordering supplies and parts Maintaining written records of work completed Assisting in training other employees in proper operation and maintenance of equipment such as backhoe, bulldozer, tandem dump truck and other trucks Performing body work and painting Making field repairs on all equipment as necessary Welding and brazing repairs Assisting other trades people with basic tasks Providing direction and instruction to part time workers and laborers Other duties as assigned This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by this employee.
