Job description

UP With Kids Daycare is looking for a caring, dependable, high-energy individual to work in our center on the United Presbyterian Home campus. This is a part-time position with various hours between 5:45 AM-5:00 PM and working with various age groups. Experience preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Follows Iowa Licensing Rules for Group Child Care Centers, the UP With Kids Daycare Policies and UP Home policies
  • Assists teachers in carrying out the daily curriculum.
  • Reports any concerns to the staff member in charge.
  • Maintains a safe, orderly environment, which includes housekeeping duties.
  • Assists in meal/snack preparation.
  • Interacts with children at their cognitive level and provides supervision for a safe environment.
  • Before talking to parents about any problems, consults with a staff person in charge for proper delivery to parents.
  • Builds and maintains effective, positive relationships with the members, participants, volunteers, other staff, and the communities we serve.
  • Acts as a positive role model.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to plan, lead and participate in activities.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 35 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to interact with the children on their level.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 18 Years Of Age
  • Experience working with children of varied ages highly desired.
  • Be reliable and dependable.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Be able to obtain required certifications within 90 daysof employment

Required training:Within the first three months of employment. During their first three months of employment, all staff shall receive the following training:

  • Two hours of Iowa's training for mandatory reporting of child abuse.
  • At least one hour of training regarding universal precautions and infectious disease control annually.
  • Certification in American Red Cross or American Heart Association infant, child, and adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or equivalent certification approved by the Department. A valid certificate indicating the date of training and expiration date shall be maintained.
  • Certification in infant, child, and adult first aid that uses a nationally recognized curriculum or is received from a nationally recognized training organization including the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, the National Safety Council, American Safety and Health Institute or MEDIC First Aid or an equivalent certification approved by the Department. A valid certificate indicating the date of training and expiration date shall be maintained
  • Health and Safety Preservice Training.
