  • Certification as an CMA, RMA or CCMA
  • At least three years of experience in the field of medical assisting.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Fortis Institute in Scranton is seeking medical assisting instructors to teach day classes Monday and Wednesday from 9am to 2:30pm or evening classes Monday through Thursday from 6pm to 8:30pm.

Position Summary: Adjunct faculty members perform a number of roles and functions, each of which reflects the core competencies of their discipline. Those competencies include the following: 1) facilitate learning, 2) facilitate learner development and socialization, 3) use assessment and evaluation strategies, 4) function as a change agent and leader, 5) pursue continuous quality improvement in the educator role, and 6) function within the educational infrastructure, mission, and policies of the College/ Institute.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate Learning: - Faculty members are responsible for creating an environment in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings that facilitates student learning and the achievement of desired learning outcomes.
  • Function within the educational infrastructure, mission, and policies of the College/Institution -

Faculty members are knowledgeable about the educational environment, resources, and document integrity. The faculty are expected to work within and support the policies, mission, and cultural practices of the College/Institution.

  • Adhere to all policies and procedures.
  • A commitment to on-time attendance at every assigned class, clinical, or lab they are responsible for. This also includes teaching the full allotted time for the assigned course.
  • Adherence to course syllabus, content outline, class schedule and textbook use.
  • Be available to advise students.
  • Attendance at the all-hands and faculty meeting as required.
  • Submit final grades by the last day of each term.
  • Submit attendance and grades each week.
  • Other assignments as requested by the Academic Leadership Team.
