Fort HealthCare is a patient-centered hospital and healthcare system serving individuals, businesses and families in Jefferson, Dane, and Walworth Counties and we are seeking a Perioperative Services Technician (CNA or EMT) to join our Perioperative Services team.

Shift:
Occasional Part time
Day shift 6:30 am - 3:00 pm

The Perioperative Services Technician assists the physicians and conducts patient procedural care as directed by the RN.

Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Assists with patient transport to and from the department via ambulating, wheelchair, and stretcher.
  • Prepares patients for endoscopy, pain management and outpatient procedures; obtains vital signs, gathers demographic and other preprocedural information from patient; starts IV’s as needed and maintains IV competency. (Only performing IV starts when proof of competency training is established such as EMT certification or IV competency is documented).
  • Anticipates the need for equipment and supplies after and during procedure.
  • Verifies the specimen container is labeled correctly when placing specimen in the container; transports specimen to pathology.
  • Performs post-procedural duties as directed by RN; takes vital signs per post-procedural protocols; monitors post procedure safety after conscious sedation; reinforces discharge instructions; reports data to RN; restocks endoscopy as needed; provides comfort measures; answers call lights.
  • Cleans area post procedure and sets up for next patient procedure.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principals of growth and development including infants, children, adolescents, and adults including geriatrics.

Requirements of this position include:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One year of experience in the healthcare field
  • SGNA Certification (Society of Gastroenterology Nurses & Associates) or CNA License or EMT License; BLS Certificate within 90 days of hire
