The Hydraulic Data Analyst (HDA) will work remotely to analyze hydraulic information which may include sanitary, combined, and storm sewer flow data, system schematics, wastewater treatment plant records, rain data, pump station data, real-time data, and other pertinent information as required. The analyst prepares data and reports for the client. The HDA develops a general understanding of the analysis process, sensor basics, and typical field monitor installation, including an on-site visit to a field project.

Job Responsibilities

Analysis:

1. Demonstrate a strong understanding of mathematics and basic statistics.

2. Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of basic hydraulics, especially as related to the measurement and calculation of open channel flow.

3. Analyze data for calibration, trends, patterns, and outliers; using graphical and statistical analysis.

4. Follow standard processes for routine data processing and preparation of data for review and audits.

5. Demonstrate strong attention to detail and an ability to organize and handle multiple tasks.

6. Demonstrate functional understanding of a typical field monitor installation, including an on-site visit to a flow monitor location accompanied by an experienced field crew.

7. Demonstrate clear understanding of the methods of flow monitoring, including field procedures.

8. Follows and understands documented ISO work instructions and procedures as they relate to this position.

Troubleshooting:

9. Identify problems with data and propose solutions to correct persistent problems.

10. Communicate effectively in writing and verbally, both in person and remotely with field personnel, technicians, co-workers, engineers and managers.

Computer Skills:

11. Competency with standard software including, but not limited to: Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, AdobePro.

12. Complete basic data maintenance functions such as backup, archive, restore, combine, and cut.

13. Learn, utilize and adapt to new software for analysis of data.

14. Familiarity with proprietary ADS hardware and software.

Presentation Skills:

15. Demonstrate clear technical writing and verbal communication skills.

16. Assist in final report preparation, producing timely, professional results with strong attention to detail and accuracy.

17. Contribute to meetings with internal and external stakeholders.

18. Complete or assist special projects as required.

19. Travel may be required on occasion to support specific projects.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

BA/BS in a field related to either the environment or civil engineering is preferred. Degree fields with a strong emphasis on mathematics or physical sciences are acceptable. A combination of related diploma, relevant work experience and strong communication skills are alos acceptable. Understanding of ADS product lines, services, and software is a plus. Familiarity with databases or Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is desirable. Professional designation as an engineering or applied science technologist through ASTTBC, ASET, OACETT or equivalent, is an asset.

Strong mathematical, analytical reasoning and understanding of hydraulic principles are necessary. Proficiency with computers is essential; including understanding of Microsoft office. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.

This role is remote; the successful candidate must be self-motivated with a proven ability to work independently. The ideal candidate must possess strong self-awareness to recognize their limits and proactively seek help when needed. Preference may be given to candidates residing in cities with ADS field offices: Vancouver, Calgary or Edmonton. The position is intended to begin as part-time (30hrs/week) with potential to transition to full-time (40hrs/week).

Total Rewards

The compensation range for this position is $63,400.00 - $95,200.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
