Job description

Compensation Range: $45-55/hour, depending on skills and qualifications.


Position Summary

A part time data science position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Nicole Ferrara in the Center for Neurobiology of Stress Resilience and Psychiatric Disorders, Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. The focus of the lab is social fear memory with particular emphasis on interactions between the environment, fear, and social behaviors and how they impact neural circuits during development. This position is expected to last 3 months to a year, depending on the candidate’s availability and the needs of the lab. We anticipate this position to work 20 to 30hrs per week.

The Ferrara lab records neural activity in vivo via fiber photometry and syncs brain recordings to behavior. We are looking for candidates who can establish a strong fiber photometry-behavior analysis pipeline and train lab members to implement.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Establishing a pipeline for fiber photometry and behavior analysis.
  • Presenting new findings and techniques at weekly lab meetings.
  • Training lab members on fiber photometry and behavioral analysis, data visualization, and data interpretation.


Conditions of Employment

  • Must achieve satisfactory results from a background check.


Required Education & Experience

  • Candidates must have a PhD with a strong background in neuroscience.


Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Extensive experience with one or more programming languages (i.e., MatLab, R, etc.).
  • Experience with behavioral modeling (i.e., DeepLabCut, SLEAP, etc.).
  • Experience with training and teaching.


Preferred Qualification

  • Evidence of scholarly productivity through presentations and publications.
