At Mad Science, we are having a blast! You will lead students through inquiry-based discovery methods involving instructor demonstrations, hands-on activities, and amazing take-home projects that will illustrate how science affects the world around us, inspiring the next generation of scientists.
We are looking for HIGHLY ENERGETIC, DYNAMIC AND CONFIDENT individuals to join our growing team to conduct exciting science, engineering, and technology programs. You do not need to be a certified teacher, but experience working with groups of elementary-aged students is preferred.
This is a part-time position and is somewhat seasonal.
Pay for all Areas of Business (AOB) is hourly - including set-up and clean-up time.
Starting pay is $22.00-$25.00 per hour DOE, plus mileage compensation!
Responsibilities:
  • Facilitating day camps, in-person workshops, and after-school science enrichment programs for children from preschool through elementary school
  • Deliver hands on, high-energy, part entertainment/part education programs that meet for one hour each week for approximately 8-12 weeks.
  • Drive to various locations across Los Angeles County and Southern California.
  • Attend paid training sessions virtually or at our office.
  • Attend the mandatory Friday Staff Meeting every week (paid).
  • Be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
  • Be on time for all scheduled activities.
  • Adhere to strict safety and cleanliness guidelines.

Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must be available a minimum of three consistent weekday afternoons, 12-5pm While this is a part-time position, it is critical that you are able to commit to the length of any given program (school season, camp session, after-school program, etc.), and that you are able to give us steady weekly availability.
  • Must have an insured, personal vehicle as you will be transporting equipment and conducting programs at schools and organizations across Los Angeles and Ventura Counties.
  • Must be available for mandatory Friday meeting, 11am-12pm
  • Experience teaching/ working withgroups of elementary-age (4-12) children (such as an after-school teacher or camp counselor).
  • Minimum of 1 year of college suggested. Degrees and/or graduate degrees are a plus.
  • THEATRE EXPERIENCE IS A PLUS!
  • Maintain a fun, flexible, & outgoing personality!
