Position Description
City College of San Francisco (CCSF) is looking for innovative mathematics teachers who are dedicated to making a difference in the educational experience of a diverse group of students representing many different academic backgrounds.
CCSF is a large urban community college. We serve students with a wide variety of educational goals, including career technical certificates, associate degrees, and lower division requirements that lead to transfer to four year universities.
The Mathematics Department Faculty at CCSF is looking for someone who will be committed to meeting students where they are in their mathematical journey and helping them to achieve their academic goals.
Job Duties
1. Teach in-person community college credit mathematics courses such as statistics, calculus, differential equations, data science, and linear algebra.
2. Perform duties associated with instructing students and assessing their progress in relation to identified student learning outcomes.
3. Teach day, evening, and/or weekend classes in-person at one or more campus locations, as required.
4. Support and engage in an innovative culture of culturally responsive, inclusive and anti-racist practices as it relates to student success with an awareness of student equity gaps. Participate in required department, division, and school meetings, professional development sessions and trainings, and Flex Days.
5. Participate in ongoing training on diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racist pedagogy.
6. Perform other duties as assigned by the department chair
Minimum Qualifications
Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to work with community college students with disabilities, various sexual orientations, and diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds (Required).
Earned Master's Degree in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics from an accredited institution; OR THE EQUIVALENT;
OR
Earned Bachelor's in either of the above from an accredited institution AND a Master's Degree in Statistics, Physics, or Mathematics Education from an accredited institution; OR THE EQUIVALENT.
Higher degrees are accepted.

Desirable Qualifications
1. Completed graduate level coursework in standard areas such as algebra, analysis, and geometry/topology. Additional coursework in such subjects as statistics, data science and/or physical science.
2. Experience teaching mathematics to students from diverse backgrounds and widely varied academic goals.
3. Experience in the assessment of student learning.
4. Demonstrated ability to teach effectively the full range of lower division college mathematics, including precalculus, statistics, calculus, differential equations, and linear algebra.
5. Experience working with a learning management system, preferably Canvas.
6. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English.
7. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with colleagues in a professional setting.
8. Familiarity with and commitment to the mission and functions of a community college.
9. Experience applying culturally responsive pedagogy at the university or college level.
10. Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of inequities in higher education and a commitment to rectifying policies and processes that restrict access for historically minoritized and disproportionately impacted students.

Special Instructions to Applicant
City College of San Francisco will accept applications with all required supporting documentation at any time until December 2026. Screening and interviews can be conducted at any point in time as the department desires; a part-time hiring pool or pools will be developed and be in effect for a one-year period from which temporary appointments will be made on an as-needed basis.
