JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The Penn State College of Health and Human Development's Child Health Research Center (CHRC) is seeking part-time Research Assistants for the Fall 2026 semester. Selected candidates will support multiple ongoing research and outreach projects by assisting with data entry, field-based data collection, kitchen preparation, and a range of administrative and organizational tasks. Most responsibilities will take place in Noll Laboratory, with some activities located at College Heights. Availability for full-day field-based data collection visits (8:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m.) is preferred.
Qualified candidates will demonstrate strong attention to detail, effective organizational and time-management skills, and the ability to follow research protocols accurately. Applicants should be comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative research team, communicate professionally with staff and participants, and maintain confidentiality of research data. Prior experience with data collection, data entry, food preparation, or research-related activities is desirable but not required. Reliability, flexibility, and an interest in child health, nutrition, or behavioral research are strongly valued.
BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES
This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
