POSITION: At-Will, School Term. This position is part-time, approximately 20 hours per week, and is through EDUStaff, our third-party contractor.

REPORTS TO: Principal Meridian Early College High School
SALARY: Based on qualifications and experience
JOB SUMMARY: The Advisor for the Early College Fifth Year Program plays an essential role in supporting academic achievement, guiding postsecondary transitions, and managing off-campus learning opportunities for Meridian Early College High School students, enrolled in the fifth-year program. This position oversees academic advising for fifth year students enrolled in off-campus programs. This position is contracted through our third-party contractor, EDUStaff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide individualized academic advising for all fifth-year students enrolled in off-campus programs.
  • Develop and maintain personalized academic plans that reflect students' further college and career aspirations.
  • Guide students in course selection and scheduling based on postsecondary goals beyond fifth-year.
  • Track student academic progress, attendance, and credit attainment throughout the year; communicate with families regarding progress.
  • Intervene with support plans and resources for struggling students.
  • Maintain communication and collaboration with Delta College.
  • Assist students with postsecondary planning beyond the fifth-year program including test prep, financial aid, scholarships, and application processes.
  • Ensure final transcripts for seniors are accurate and sent to postsecondary institutions.
  • Utilize MiSSG for student financial aid tracking (FAFSA, TIP, Michigan Achievement).
  • Communicate with off-campus students and partners during the summer to support fall enrollment readiness.
  • Collect and analyze data related to academic performance, college readiness, and postsecondary outcomes; use data for continuous improvement.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The following requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in education, school counseling, or related field required.
  • Demonstrated experience with academic advising, postsecondary planning, or program coordination.
  • Knowledge of graduation requirements, NCAA/NAIA eligibility, CTE programming, and college admissions.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to use student information systems (Skyward preferred) and analyze educational data.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of educational experience.
  • Desire for rigorous professional development and coaching with a focus on continuous improvement and instructional effectiveness.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
A Bachelor's degree or higher in a field related to Education is required. Three (3) years of experience as a teacher/consultant or related position. Strong knowledge of demonstrated experience with academic advising, postsecondary planning, or program coordination.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Michigan teaching or counseling certification preferred.
Valid Michigan Driver's License.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills required. Must be able to communicate effectively with children, teachers, co-workers, staff and administration. Must be able to read, comprehend and analyze instructions, correspondence, memos, reports, rules and regulations. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with students, families, staff, and postsecondary partners. Strong writing and documentation skills for correspondence, data reports, and communication with outside institutions. Must be able to compose appropriate presentations, correspondence, and reporting with clear and concise information utilizing proper spelling and grammar. Must be able to write, manage, and administer grants.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Must be able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations in order to make comparisons and/or determinations of evaluations of programs and presentations, and to produce charts, graphs, and reports.
