Job Summary:
In this role you will plan and perform complex civil engineering tasks to produce design and estimates for projects within the Manufacturing and Technology Business Unit. You will develop, evaluate, cooordinate, or modify design, drawings, specifications and requisitions for earthworks, stormwater and drainage infrastructure, roads, paving, fences and other civil works under the supervision of a Lead Engineer or Engineering Group Supervisor.You will supervise the work of engineers and designers under your lead. Your technical expertise will ensure the unique and complex requirements of a project's civil/structural aspects are met. #LI-AM3
Major Responsibilities:
  • Plans and conducts independent scope of work and technical specifications for Civil design and field investigations on large size projects or assignments in support of a global business unit
  • Leads the design, development, modification and evaluation of Civil engineering components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)
  • Reviews and approves key design documents, supplier drawings and data, material specifications, drawings, change orders, and bid summaries for the project to which assigned
  • Designs civil infrastructure using advanced knowledge of earthworks, drainage and roadways/railways.
  • Originates and checks complex Civil engineering deliverables, such as drainage and road design calculations, specifications, and material requisitions
  • Develops conceptual designs for Civil/Structural engineering projects or projects having specialized or unique requirements
  • Interviews client personnel to determine their needs, develops scope for cost estimates for services and participates in proposal preparation and presentation
  • Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plans in accordance with project scope, schedule, and budget, and supports implementation and assists with performance reporting

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Requires a bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience

  • Recognized as advanced contributor with specialized skill set
  • Considered subject matter expert within discipline
  • Having wide-ranging experience, uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways
