Starting salary for this position is: $42.05 - $89.48 per hour based on workload category.

This is an adjunct (part-time) position. Compensation will be pro-rated according to the amount of workload assigned. Spokane Colleges reserves the right to cancel this recruitment without notice. About the Information Systems Instructor - Adjunct - Spokane Falls Community College

Spokane Falls Community College (SFCC) is seeking qualified candidates for consideration of employment as an Information Systems / Cybersecurity Adjunct Instructor in the Computing, Math & Science Department. We seek applicants with a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to our students, diversity and global awareness, and the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner. The college strives for faculty who are content experts and who are knowledgeable about best practices, innovative strategies, and instructional technologies that support teaching and learning.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepares for and instructs courses supporting Information Systems and Cyber Security at the AAS and Bachelor levels. Course topics include Introduction to Computing, Networking Fundamental, Database Theory, Server Administration, Scripting, Digital Forensics, Security Fundamentals, Virtualization, Compliance, Automation, Ethical Hacking, Encryption, Systems Analysis, and other supporting topics.
  • Course assignments may vary in modality, including on-ground, hybrid, and online formats based on the needs of the department.
  • Communicate expectations and establish clear grading criteria through appropriate instructional means, to include but not limited to developing course syllabi, handouts, and materials supporting the instructional process; evaluates student progress and provides clear, timely feedback.
  • Provide availability and accessibility to students through a combination of scheduled office hours, e-mail, and other effective means of responsive and timely communication.
  • Provide timely feedback and support to students.
  • Maintain accurate records for course grades.
  • Complies with district policy, procedures and directives, state and federal regulations, orders and statue and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Complies with state and federal laws applicable to professional duties and responsibilities; follows established procedures in areas such as printing, turning in grades, bookstore orders, office support, student financial aid requirements, safety and health issues and related administrative processes.
  • Support and advance the Spokane Colleges strategic plan and perform other duties as assigned. *

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Cyber Security, Information Systems or related field.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills - able to work and interact effectively with colleagues, staff, students, administrators, and others of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Excellent communication skills - able to communicate clearly and effectively, whether in person or virtually, verbally or in writing.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree of higher in Cyber Security, Information Systems or related field.
  • Prior teaching experience in an institution of higher education
  •  Experience in teaching a variety of teaching modalities

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Person hired must be able to provide acceptable documentation of U.S. Citizenship or lawful authorization to work in the United States. This is an absolute condition of employment. Benefits Information

Adjunct faculty must work two (2) consecutive quarters at 50% or more of full-time academic load in order to qualify for benefits (based on instructional hours only). Once determined to be eligible, benefits begin on the first day of the month following the beginning of the quarter. Medical, dental, life and long term disability insurance benefits are provided as currently administered under Public Employees Benefits Board; TIAA-Cref retirement plan or WA State Retirement Plan; leave accruals and usage are governed by the faculty master contract.
