Position Title: Systems Engineer / Simulation Test & Validation Laboratory Hardware Support (part-time)
The Systems Engineer IV will provide part-time engineering support to a KBR and U.S. Air Force Simulation Test and Validation Laboratories. The primary responsibility of this position is maintaining and sustaining lab hardware, simulation infrastructure, and supporting equipment to ensure continuous operational readiness for test, evaluation, and mission rehearsal activities.
The selected candidate will serve as a senior technical resource responsible for hardware troubleshooting, system integration, configuration management, and maintenance of government-furnished and contractor-owned equipment supporting simulation and test environments. This role will work closely with engineers, software developers, simulation operators, and government stakeholders to ensure laboratory systems remain available, reliable, and capable of supporting program objectives.
Responsibilities:
Hardware Maintenance & Sustainment
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade laboratory hardware systems supporting simulation, testing, and validation activities.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on servers, workstations, networking equipment, displays, racks, storage systems, and associated peripherals.
  • Diagnose hardware failures and coordinate replacement or repair activities to minimize system downtime.
  • Monitor hardware lifecycle status and provide recommendations for refresh or modernization efforts.
  • Support installation, integration, and configuration of new hardware components.

Simulation Lab Operations Support
  • Ensure simulation environments remain operational and available for scheduled test events.
  • Support setup, tear-down, and reconfiguration of laboratory systems for test execution.
  • Assist with system connectivity, equipment checkout, and operational readiness activities.
  • Support troubleshooting efforts during test events and exercises.

Systems Engineering & Integration
  • Support integration of hardware and software components within simulation and test architectures.
  • Document system configurations, interfaces, dependencies, and engineering changes.
  • Participate in technical reviews, design discussions, and configuration control activities.
  • Evaluate impacts of proposed hardware and infrastructure changes.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical field.
  • 8+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Experience supporting complex hardware-intensive systems or laboratory environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • An active Secret Security Clearance is required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting USAF, DoD, AFRL, AFLCMC, AFOTEC, or similar organizations.
  • Experience working in Modeling & Simulation (M&S) environments.
  • Familiarity with enterprise computing infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting hardware used for test and evaluation activities.
  • Experience with rack-mounted systems, networking equipment, and laboratory infrastructure.
  • Active Top Secret Clearance.
