Registered Nurse (RN) – ED

Part-time- 24 hours per week

Up to $10,000 Sign-On Bonus

Our Weekends only program requires working 50 out of 52 weekend per year and pays an additional $10/hr. premium pay on top of base rate and differential pay.  Friday and Saturday Overnight 6:30pm-7:00am.

As a Registered Nurse-ED, you will be responsible for the care of a designated group of patients in a structured setting through the appropriate utilization of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Provides care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her assigned unit.

Licensure/Certification/Registry:

  • Current RN license in the State of Illinois required. Healthcare Provider BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
  • Healthcare Provider or Instructor BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
  • ACLS (provider or instructor), PALS (provider or instructor) or ENPC, TNCC or TNS, and ECRN certifications preferred within 1 year, and required within 2 years of hire date. ECRN certification is only required of full- and part-time staff.

Experience:

  • Meets credit range for Clinical Ladder levels as follows (12 months experience as a registered nurse is required in order to apply for promotion in the clinical ladder):
  • Clinical Nurse I: Registered Nurse who achieves a range of 0-12 credits on the Clinical Ladder Behavior Grid. BSN preferred.
  • Clinical Nurse II: Registered Nurse who achieves a range of 13-24 credits on the Clinical Ladder Behavior Grid with evidence of behaviors from at least two categories of the Grid. BSN preferred.
  • Clinical Nurse III: Registered Nurse who achieves at least 25 - 35 credits on the Clinical Ladder Behavior Grid with evidence of behaviors from at least three categories on the Grid. BSN required.
  • Clinical Nurse IV: Registered Nurse who achieves at least 36 credits on the Clinical Ladder with evidence of behaviors from at least three categories on the Grid. Enrollment in BSN or MSN program or completion of minimum of BSN require

  1. Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcome, consults with other specialists as required and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.
  2. Performs nursing bedside procedures including but not limited to accucheck and rapid strept.
  3. Interviews patients and /or family to obtain required history and determine appropriate Triage status.
  4. Initiates IV access and administers fluid therapy in safe manner.
  5. Assists physicians with multiple bedside procedures including but not limited to chest tube insertion, intubation, suturing, lumbar puncture, etc.
  6. Accurately cares for patients receiving forensic care, ie. Blood alcohol levels, workers compensation, rape, patient abuse.
  7. Provides patient teaching relative to presenting conditions.
  8. Completes 12 lead EKG’s.
  9. Completes process for admission, discharge and transfer appropriately.
  10. Assures that department is survey-ready at all times.
  11. Communicates effectively with ED physicians and team members.
  12. Administers blood and blood components in a safe manner.
  13. Provides safe patient care during patient transport utilizing appropriate protocols.
  14. Performs other related work as required or requested.
