Job description
Essential Job Functions:
- Develop and conduct science and other appropriate workshops for students; develop instructional materials in science.
- Meets with students on a regular basis to clarify learning problems and improve study skills through one or more of the following techniques:
- Facilitation of effective study methods in reviewing class material and predicting test questions.
- Discussion of the class text.
- Facilitate tutee's formulation of topics and ideas for their class assignments.
- Facilitate methods for problem solving.
- For each applicable course, utilizes the current course syllabus, textbook and supplemental materials as approved by the applicable faculty.
- Provide instructional assistance to individuals and small groups of students in Chemistry courses.
- Utilize computers for instructional purposes.
- Attend grant meetings as appropriate.
- Work appropriate hours in accordance with existing scheduling procedure, which may include evening, weekend, and possibly off-campus assignments.
- All other duties assigned by the Principal Investigator.

Minimum Job Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's in a Science related field or Science Education from an accredited institution required; a Master's degree preferred.
- One year experience teaching or tutoring, preferably at a college level OR equivalent combination of training and experience which would provide similar knowledge and skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Knowledge of educational technology expected.
- Evidence of appropriate worked-related experience relevant to the position. Demonstrable interest in student success.
- The flexibility, skills, and ability to thrive in an environment with ample workloads, changing priorities and deadline pressure.

Physical Demands
The work environment is an athletic and office setting which requires the ability to travel much of the time, work long hours including evenings and weekends, be physically active, able to lift up to 50 pounds, and have the ability to demonstrate specific skills.
