Position Overview

Saylor seeks a Canada-based innovative, sharp part-time contract Social Copywriter with experience in social media copywriting, content strategy, and creative development to join the Social team. The ideal candidate will be exceedingly creative, collaborative, strategic, and obsessed with social media and marketing trends. Working across organic and paid social, this role will support the Social, Editorial, and Design teams in shaping the creative efforts on pitches, social content, and brand and marketing campaigns. This person will be responsible for building tone and voice for projects and pitches, ideating content, developing and writing concepts, copy editing decks and content, and writing scripts and social copy.

The Copywriter will bring a confident, strong and studied creative perspective from a language-first point of view to all the work they do. They will collaborate across all teams at Saylor — partnering with Strategy, Accounts, Editorial, and Design to elevate individual assets and entire campaigns. Throughout, you'll ensure all creative aligns with strategy and brand voice through copy, design, and execution.

Throughout, they'll develop ideas, scripts, and copy that resonate authentically with Canadian audiences. They should have a strong understanding of cultural nuances and emerging trends that influence how social content is received in the Canada market, ensuring creative feels locally relevant without sacrificing a cohesive brand voice.

About You

A seemingly bottomless pit of fresh ideas, you have a deep well of references and experiences to pull from and you always have your thumb on the pulse of what's clicking with audiences on social media. You're a natural wordsmith who can adapt to various tones and brand voices, finding unique ways for copy to stand out and take up meaningful space. You're not afraid to share your ideas in a room — whether it's with internal teams or clients — and you enthusiastically build up and nurture your teammate's ideas. Flexibility and a positive attitude come naturally to you, and you create open and symbiotic environments conducive to generating ideas without ego or shallow judgement. You feel confident and comfortable with the intricacies of entertainment marketing, with experience supporting or guiding high-profile creative projects from ideation to execution. Location and Salary

This is a freelance role with a salary range of $50-$75 USD per hour, depending on experience. The contractor must be based in Canada.

Overall Responsibilities

  • Heavy ideation for everything from lo-fi reactive content to high lift hero videos
  • Taking creative guidelines from Social Lead and ensuring all creative is executed accordingly.
  • Attend client meetings and present creative ideas, frequently serving as a creative liaison between Saylor and our clients.
  • Social media copywriting, deck copywriting, community management copywriting and other writing tasks as they arise.
  • Crafting of tone and voice that will inform high visibility campaigns and pitches.
  • Partner with Creative Production, Strategy, Design, and Editorial teams on bringing high-quality creative to life through scripting and production kick off meetings as needed.
  • Provide strategic insight on content executions and relevant internet language to ensure the project is backed up by sound creative tactics.
  • Pitch creative concepts or copy to clients as needed.
  • Work with Saylor's Account and Strategy teams to help maintain and execute the visual language for brands/campaigns.
  • Review all creative assets before they are sent to clients or released, providing last-minute adjustments and quality control as needed.

Execution Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Social Lead to understand campaign goals and support the creative team to execute against these strategies
  • Foster strong communication with the Creative teams, offering steers, references, and one-on-one guidance to ensure that assets are being developed on schedule and within the project's constraints.
  • Help refine copy and design elements when necessary to ensure all creative aspects are cohesive and aligned with the brand's messaging and aesthetic.
  • Relay copy options to client and address feedback in a timely manner via Slack, Asana, and other channels as needed, keeping client priorities in mind.
  • Collaborate with the Strategy team to ensure that content is optimized for various platforms and engages the target audience effectively.

Qualifications

  • 3-5+ years of experience in an agency setting or in-house at a studio, with experience creating and leading marketing/branded content.
  • Incredible storytelling skills, with the ability to assist on pitches and sell the creative in the room to our clients.
  • Natural wit paired with deep expertise in entertainment and fandom culture
  • An eye for strong ideas and executions with the ability to communicate its effectiveness.
  • Finger on the pulse of creative culture across platforms. Able to pull references from all different sources that could help inspire creative avenues.
  • Ability to seamlessly bounce between projects of varying complexity.
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to meet tight, high-volume deadlines.
  • Honed ability to give and receive constructive criticism.
