Part-Time Cook

Arvin Post Acute
Pay Range: $17.50-$18.00 per hour, based on experience

Arvin Post Acute is seeking a dependable and experienced Part-Time Cook to join our dietary team. The Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious, appetizing meals while following resident dietary requirements, approved menus, and food-safety standards.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and serve meals according to approved menus and portion guidelines
  • Accurately prepare special and therapeutic diets
  • Ensure food is presented in an appealing and timely manner
  • Record food temperatures and maintain required documentation
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen and cooking area
  • Follow proper food-handling, storage, and infection-control procedures
  • Assist with meal service and cleaning of equipment, work areas, and serving carts
  • Work cooperatively with dietary staff and other departments
  • Report resident dietary concerns to the appropriate supervisor
  • Follow all facility policies and state and federal regulations
Qualifications
  • Previous cooking experience preferred; healthcare or long-term care experience is a plus
  • Ability to prepare meals in large quantities
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Ability to follow recipes, menus, and special-diet instructions
