Your Opportunity
We have an immediate opening for a Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer Discipline Lead to manage a team of engineers and designers and to lead the design and delivery of complex industrial and high-tech facility projects. This role is ideal for a seasoned engineer with deep expertise in I&C systems, strong project leadership experience, and the ability to guide teams across the full project lifecycle.
You will play a critical role in designing, specifying, and overseeing instrumentation and control systems for advanced manufacturing environments including semiconductor, pharmaceutical, chemical, and mission-critical facilities.
Your Key Responsibilities
  • Discipline Lead responsible for staffing, team building, team development, and thought Leadership
  • Lead the design and specification of instrumentation and control systems for industrial and high-tech facilities
  • Develop P&IDs, PFDs, loop diagrams, wiring schematics, PLC/DCS system designs, instrument data sheets, and installation details
  • Create logic diagrams, sequences of operation, and I/O databases to support system functionality and integration
  • Oversee electrical and I&C system design from concept through construction, including one-line diagrams, equipment layouts, and construction specifications
  • Develop raceway, conduit routing, and overall system layout plans in coordination with multidisciplinary teams
  • Support execution of I&C and electrical project delivery plans across all project phases
  • Interface directly with clients to manage scope, schedule, and technical delivery
  • Lead coordination with mechanical, electrical, process, and architectural teams
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers
  • Participate in site visits, commissioning support, and client coordination
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements
  • Travel occasionally to support project and client needs and meet site badging requirements
  • Participate in proposal development and budget adherence

Your Capabilities
  • Strong leadership and project management skills with the ability to drive complex projects to completion
  • Deep technical knowledge of instrumentation and control systems within industrial and high-tech environments
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams and communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience managing client relationships and delivering high-quality engineering solutions
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in fast-paced project environments
  • Ability to mentor, guide, and develop junior engineering staff

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
  • 10+ years of experience in instrumentation & controls and electrical system design
  • Experience in semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, oil & gas, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, biotech, or industrial processing environments
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred
  • Strong knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 497, UL 508A, UL 698A, and ISA standards
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM coordination tools
  • Experience with PLC programming, ladder logic, and HMI/SCADA systems
  • Experience designing industrial communication networks including Ethernet, Modbus, Profibus, DeviceNet, fiber optics, and wireless systems
  • Experience with SCADA and industrial control systems supporting complex process environments such as UPW, wastewater treatment, bulk chemical systems, and facility monitoring systems
  • Proven ability to lead projects, manage client relationships, and mentor junior staff

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).
Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
