Part Time Contractor information

What is a part time contractor?

A part time contractor is an individual who is hired to perform specific tasks or services for a company on a part-time basis, typically without being considered a full employee. They usually work under a contract that outlines the scope, duration, and payment terms of their work. Unlike full-time employees, part time contractors often have more flexible schedules, are responsible for their own taxes, and may not receive employee benefits such as health insurance or paid time off. This arrangement is common in industries like construction, IT, consulting, and creative services.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time contractor?

To thrive as a Part Time Contractor, you need relevant expertise in your field, strong self-management abilities, and a track record of delivering quality work independently. Familiarity with project management tools like Trello or Asana, digital communication platforms, and sometimes specific certifications or licenses are often required. Exceptional time management, adaptability, and proactive communication are the soft skills that distinguish top contractors. These skills and qualities are crucial for meeting client expectations, managing variable workloads, and maintaining long-term professional relationships.

How does working as a part-time contractor impact collaboration with full-time employees and project teams?

As a part-time contractor, you may work remotely or on-site and often join existing teams for specific projects or tasks. While you typically have more flexible hours, communication and coordination are crucial, especially when aligning your schedule with full-time staff and meeting project deadlines. Many organizations use collaboration tools, regular check-ins, and clear documentation to ensure contractors are integrated into the workflow and can contribute effectively. Building relationships with team members and maintaining proactive communication can help you overcome any barriers associated with part-time or remote status.

Job description

Part-Time Contractor – Autism Diagnostic Clinician (Comprehensive Assessments)

Location: Nebraska (On-site, once weekly)
Organization: Behaven Kids

Behaven Kids is a Nebraska-based pediatric behavioral and mental health organization serving children and families across multiple locations. We are seeking an experienced, licensed clinician to join us as a part-time independent contractor to conduct comprehensive autism diagnostic evaluations on a once-per-week basis.

This role is designed for clinicians who wish to focus on high-quality diagnostic work with flexible scheduling and strong administrative support, without production pressure or referral expectations.

Role Overview

The Diagnostic Clinician will provide independent, comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for Autism Spectrum Disorder and related neurodevelopmental conditions. The clinician will exercise full clinical judgment and maintain independent diagnostic authority.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Conduct comprehensive autism diagnostic evaluations

  • Administer and interpret standardized assessment instruments (e.g., ADOS-2 and related tools)

  • Perform clinical interviews, behavioral observations, and record reviews

  • Prepare thorough diagnostic reports that meet clinical, payer, and regulatory standards

  • Provide feedback to families regarding findings and recommendations

  • Collaborate with intake and clinical teams solely for scheduling and care coordination purposes

This role does not require, and is not conditioned on, referring patients to Behaven Kids for ongoing services.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Licensed Psychologist, Developmental Pediatrician, Psychiatrist, or other licensed clinician authorized to diagnose Autism Spectrum Disorder in Nebraska

  • Formal training and demonstrated experience with standardized autism diagnostic instruments (ADOS-2 required)

  • Pediatric diagnostic experience

  • Strong documentation and clinical writing skills

Preferred:

  • Experience with Medicaid and commercial payer diagnostic standards

  • Experience in outpatient pediatric or multidisciplinary settings

Schedule & Structure
  • Independent contractor (1099) arrangement

  • On-site once per week (flexible day based on availability)

  • Evaluations scheduled in advance with administrative support provided

  • Clinician retains full independence in clinical decision-making

Compensation Structure

Compensation is structured as a fair market value professional services arrangement, aligned with regulatory requirements.

Two options are available:

Option 1 – Revenue Share Using Behaven Kids Billing Infrastructure

  • 80% of collected professional fees paid to the clinician

  • 20% retained by Behaven Kids to cover billing, scheduling, facilities, and administrative infrastructure

Option 2 – Flat Per-Evaluation Rate

  • Fixed per-assessment rate, set at fair market value

Compensation is not tied to referrals, volume of downstream services, or continued engagement of patients in Behaven Kids programs, and is paid solely for diagnostic professional services rendered.

Compliance Statement

This engagement is intended to comply with all applicable federal and state laws, including the federal Anti-Kickback Statute and Stark Law. Compensation reflects fair market value for bona fide professional services and is not intended to induce or reward referrals.
