Description:Are you looking for adventure? Utah Navajo Health System, Inc. is looking for a hard-working, dedicated Medical Provider to work full time in Monument Valley, Utah. We are a large company with 4 medical and 5 dental clinics spread throughout beautiful San Juan County.
San Juan County is the perfect place for an outdoor adventurer or anyone wanting a break from buildings and pavement. Hiking, biking, ATV riding, and breathtaking views are all close at hand. You will be working in an area rich in a variety of cultures and people. We know there is someone out there that will make an excellent addition to our medical team to help increase availability of medical care in our area. Someone who gets along well with others, is thorough and efficient, can follow company procedures, and has amazing customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Examine patientsโ€™ medical records
  2. Prepare patients for treatment (e.g. by applying oral sedation or anesthesia)
  3. Check teeth, gingiva, and other parts of the mouth, along with X-rays and tests, to diagnose dental problems
  4. Clean teeth, including scaling and root planning
  5. Identify tooth decay and replace decay with restorations
  6. Design and fit dental prosthetics, such as bridges, crowns and dentures
  7. Apply teeth-whitening treatments
  8. Perform tooth extractions and root canal procedures
  9. Prescribe medication as needed
  10. Educate patients on proper brushing techniques, flossing and fluoride use
  11. Promote good oral health and preventive dental care
  12. All tasks, projects, or duties reasonably necessary for the effective and efficient provision of dental care for UNHS dental patients, as well as the effective and efficient operation of UNHSโ€™s dental department
  13. Educate dental staff in an effort to improve techniques and practices
  14. Any other tasks, projects, or duties that are requested by the Employeeโ€™s supervisor or other UNHS management or administration that is at all reasonably related to UNHS and/or the Employeeโ€™s employment with UNHS.
Requirements:

Critical Competencies & Required Competency Documents

  1. Graduation from an accredited US dental school.
    1. Documents Req.: Diploma, Copy of Utah State Dentist licensure, Copy of DEA Registration
  2. Completion of a GPR or AEGD residency is preferred.

  3. CPR/BLS Certification.
    1. Documents Req.: Copy of CPR/BLS certification.
  4. Ability to learn and teach other people about dental conditions.

As a Tribal Organization the Utah Navajo Health System, Inc. (UNHS) treats patients with high risk and underlying chronic medical conditions. Therefore, UNHS requires its employees to show proof of immunization prior to their employment with UNHS or during their employment. Below is a list of immunizations/vaccinations required to be employed or to continue employment with UNHS.
The immunizations/vaccinations include but not limited to following:

  • MMR (Measles Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella): Documentation of two MMR vaccines (OR) Documentation of MMR titers.
  • Complete Hepatitis B vaccine series (3 doses), documented proof of titers indicating immunity, or a declination that may be signed upon arrival.
  • Proof of up-to-date PPD skin testing, if previously negative (OR) Proof of positive PPD skin test with the most recent chest x-ray and treatment history.
  • Tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap).
  • Varicella titers, history of varicella or varicella immunization series.
  • Influenza vaccine for the current year.
  • COVID-19 vaccine
  • Any other vaccinations as requested.
