Jackson LLP is a boutique healthcare law firm with a client-centered ethos and a friendly work environment. The firm's work is 99% regulatory or transactional, and we do very little litigation. We seek a part-time attorney to support our transactional and corporate practice. This is a remote position. The attorney must be actively barred in California and reside in Illinois.
This is a role for a mid-career attorney with a minimum of four years of post-bar, non-litigation experience. It is well suited to an attorney returning to practice after a career break who is seeking a flexible, part-time role with substantive work and a supportive team.

The attorney will work approximately 20 hours per week on a flexible schedule. There is no billable hour requirement.
Position Description
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Draft and review transactional and corporate documents, including contracts, independent contractor agreements, and entity formation materials, in support of the firm's clients
  • Provide transactional and contracts support on California matters, applying California-specific law where relevant
  • Review and negotiate contract terms on behalf of clients or established practices engaging new personnel
  • Support the firm's attorneys on day-to-day business and corporate structuring matters for small- to mid-sized healthcare practices and management services organizations
  • Deliver clear, accurate, client-ready work product on agreed timelines
  • Actively engage in continuing education relevant to the firm's transactional and corporate practice

ABOUT THE ATTORNEY ROLE:
  • This is a remote, part-time position of approximately 20 hours per week
  • The attorney may work from the firm's Evanston office but is not required to do so
  • Salary range is $62,500 to $68,500, commensurate with the part-time schedule
  • The firm offers a benefits package appropriate to a part-time role, including paid time off, paid holidays, and 401(k) eligibility. Specific benefits will be discussed during the hiring process.

REQUIREMENTS:
Professional:
  • Actively barred in California, with four or more years of experience as a barred attorney
  • Residing in Illinois
  • Experienced in the preparation and negotiation of contracts
  • Experienced in regulatory and transactional work (not litigation), with a general transactional, corporate, or contracts background
  • Extremely detail-oriented and able to deliver error-free work to clients on tight deadlines

Interpersonal:
  • Able to communicate challenging topics clearly and effectively to clients and colleagues
  • Friendly, and well suited to a mutually supportive, non-competitive work environment
  • Able to work independently and manage a part-time workload with minimal oversight
