Education & Community Engagement Assistant
Part-time, Permanent, Hybrid
Young Concert Artists seeks an entrepreneurial person with a background in music education or performance to join the YCA team as the Education & Community Engagement Assistant. This individual will support the Director of Education & Community Engagement in planning and implementing YCA's education and community engagement initiatives. We are looking for an individual driven by our mission to help young artists make an impact with their careers. This individual will report to the Director of Education & Community Engagement, and will work closely with the Artist Management team and the Programs team.
For 65 years Young Concert Artists has stood at the forefront of discovering and launching the careers of the future leaders of classical music. Founded by Susan Wadsworth in 1961, YCA has invested in its artists by providing them with the tools, opportunities, and infrastructure to take their careers to the highest level. YCA believes that successful modern musicians are more than gifted and highly-trained - they are cultural ambassadors who are well-equipped to bring new reach and relevance to the art form and inspire the widest possible audience.
The annual YCA Susan Wadsworth International Auditions draw the most exceptional young musicians from around the world for the chance to join the YCA roster and receive the YCA Jacobs Fellowship. This transformative three-year program propels musicians to new levels of artistic growth, offering a holistic combination of resources including comprehensive artist management, performance opportunities at top venues around the globe, and YCA-presented debut recitals in New York City and Washington, DC. YCA connects its artists to a far-reaching network, opening doors and fostering key relationships that fundamentally change the trajectory of their careers.
Job Duties:
  • Take lead on the planning and implementing of three education initiatives in NYC: Artist Advising Sessions, Masterclasses, and Pre-Concert In-School Presentations.
  • Contribute to the planning and implementing of the remaining education initiatives in NYC (Mini Residencies and the Year-Long Education Program) and education programming in Washington, DC.
  • Contribute to the planning and implementing of artist-created community engagement projects. These might include outdoor performances, performances at prisons, hospitals, public buildings, etc.
  • Assist in production and front-of-house logistics for the Year-Long Education Program culminating concerts in NYC and DC.
  • Manage ticketing and RSVP process for YCA season concerts in collaboration with the Programs team.
  • Support the Director of Education & Community Engagement in entering engagement data in booking database, and issuing and executing engagement contracts.
  • Assist with program assessment and evaluation, including collecting, organizing, and maintaining survey data.
  • Accompany artists to Masterclasses and Pre-Concert In-School Presentations in NYC and additional school visits and community engagement events on an as needed basis.
  • Other duties assigned as necessary.

Qualifications:
  • Background in music or education
  • Administrative experience preferred
  • Highly organized, productive, and driven towards results
  • Great communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and to be a team player
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
  • Availability to accompany YCA artists to Masterclasses and Pre-Concert In-School Presentations in NYC and additional school visits and community engagement events, as needed, during school hours on Monday - Friday and occasional early mornings and weekends
