Description
Duties and Responsiblities
The City of Winchester is seeking a certified, skilled and dependable Emergency Communications Specialist to support public safety operations. This part-time role is responsible for receiving and dispatching emergency and non-emergency calls while maintaining professionalism and accuracy in high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to work varying shifts, flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays, and regular reliable attendance
  • Answers emergency and non-emergency calls, requests for service including law enforcement, fire and emergency medical assistance
  • Receives and transmits messages by radio and tracks all apparatus/units through Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD)
  • Utilizes multiple maps to confirm locations and assist both internal and external customers
  • Prioritizes and dispatches emergency responders and/or appropriate resources

Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
• DCJS Certification
• Priority Dispatch Certification
• 3 years of emergency communications dispatch experience
Key Qualifications:
• Strong communication and multitasking skills
• Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure
• Commitment to public service and teamwork
This position is Part-time, schedule will vary and can include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
