The Opportunity:

As a Systems Engineer Lead on our team, your focus will be on leading people and driving project execution. You'll provide hands-on leadership to a large team of engineers by setting priorities, managing workloads, and fostering a culture of accountability, communication, and professional growth, all the while balancing operational priorities. Your role will focus on coordinating day-to-day engineering efforts, ensuring projects remain on schedule, and resolving obstacles that impact delivery. You will oversee engineering activities across software development, architecture design, network engineering, system engineering, information assurance-ensuring the right people are aligned to the right tasks and supported with clear guidance. You'll mentor engineers, develop processes that strengthen team performance, and help shape how work is executed across an enterprise network. By understanding project requirements, aligning resources, and reinforcing technical rigor and best practices, you'll increase the team's effectiveness and help improve the reliability, security, and availability of critical systems. Your leadership will empower the team to solve complex challenges and deliver meaningful improvements in support of national security-related missions.

You Have:
  • 10+ years of experience in IT Engineering
  • Experience working in the Special Operations Community
  • Experience with performing capacity planning and performance monitoring to proactively address potential bottlenecks and recommend scaling solutions
  • Experience with managing complex projects from initiation to completion, while coordinating with cross-functional teams
  • Experience with mentoring and providing technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineers
  • Ability to lead the design, architecture, and implementation of critical enterprise IT infrastructure, including server, storage, virtualization, and cloud environments
  • Ability to develop and maintain strategic roadmaps for systems technology evolution
  • Ability to assist in establishing and enforcing system configuration, change management, and security policies across the server landscape
  • TS/SCI clearance
  • Bachelor's degree

Nice If You Have:
  • Experience with conducting root cause analysis (RCA) for major incidents, implementing corrective and preventive measures to minimize future disruptions
  • Experience in Windows Server or Linux operating systems
  • Experience with architecting and implementing high-availability and disaster recovery (HA/DR) solutions to ensure maximum system uptime and business continuity
  • Experience with driving automation initiatives across system deployment, monitoring, and maintenance using scripting languages, such as PowerShell and Python
  • Experience with expert-level administration and troubleshooting of Virtualization platforms, such as VMware vSphere, or Microsoft Hyper-V
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Storage and Backup solutions, such as SAN, NAS, object storage, Veeam, and Commvault
  • Knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and identity management systems

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $99,000.00 to $225,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
