Description
The Dayton Metro Library is hiring one part-time Library Aide for the Huber Heights Branch Library. Library Aides must work at least 8 hours during a 2-week timeframe. They will not work more than 29 hours in one week. This position re-shelves returned items, helps to keep the branch clean and assists with program setup and clean up. The successful candidates will need to bend, kneel and stoop in order to put the items back on the shelves. They will also need to push carts full of materials. Apply today!

Essential Job Duties
-Shelves books and other library materials.
-Shelf reads and shifts assigned areas of the collection.
-Assists patrons with basic computer use, provides simple directional assistance, refers informational and reference requests to appropriate library personnel.
-Assists with program production.
-Processes library materials for check-out, book sale, and storage as instructed.
-Completes special assignments.
-Assists in maintaining an orderly appearance of public areas.
-Schedule may include day, evening and Saturday hours.
Requirements
Job Qualifications
-Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
-Ability to communicate effectively when dealing with staff and patrons. Ability to apply active listening skills.
-Less than high school education or up to one-month related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
-Ability to quickly and accurately put items in numerical and alphabetical order.
-Ability to push/pull carts full of materials. Ability to kneel, bend, and stoop in order to return items to shelves.
Work Schedule: Tuesday and Wednesday: 9:00-6:00, Friday or Saturday: 9:00-6:00, Thursday: either 11:00-3:00 or 4:00-8:00. *Subject to change based on the needs of the Library.*
Compensation and Benefits: Starting hourly rate for these positions is $12.50. This position is not eligible for insurance or paid time off.
