PJ’s Coffee of New Orleans in Laurel, Maryland is a locally owned coffee shop focused on warm hospitality, quality beverages, teamwork, and creating a welcoming experience for every guest. We are looking for part-time Baristas who are friendly, dependable, outgoing, and ready to be part of a customer focused team.

Position Overview:

Join our Laurel PJ’s Coffee team and serve great coffee, warm hospitality, and community, where guests leave as family.

The Barista role is a customer service position first. Our Baristas prepare and serve coffee, espresso drinks, frozen beverages, pastries, beignets, and food items according to PJ’s Coffee standards. This position also supports the daily operation of the shop by keeping the café clean, stocked, organized, and guest ready.

This is a regular, year-round part-time position. We are not hiring for seasonal summer-only roles at this time.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and serve beverages and food items according to PJ’s Coffee standards

Provide friendly, fast, and welcoming service to every guest

Operate the register and handle transactions accurately

Learn PJ’s recipes, products, procedures, and service expectations

Restock pastries, food items, supplies, condiments, and paper products

Maintain a clean and organized work area throughout the shift

Clean and sanitize counters, tables, dishes, equipment, restrooms, and shared spaces

Assist with opening, closing, and shift change responsibilities

Communicate product needs, equipment concerns, and guest feedback to management

Work as part of a team during busy periods while maintaining professionalism

Support a positive shop environment for both guests and coworkers

Physical and Work Environment Requirements:

This is an active, hands-on position. Baristas should be comfortable standing and moving throughout the shift, lifting and restocking product boxes, cleaning equipment, washing dishes, wiping tables, sweeping, and mopping as needed. Team members must be able to perform the essential duties of the role with or without reasonable accommodation.

Required Qualifications:

Must be at least 18 years of age

Must have at least 1 year of customer service, food service, hospitality, retail, or related work experience

Must have reliable transportation to and from scheduled shifts

Must have flexible availability, including early morning shifts that may begin as early as 5:30 AM

Weekend availability is required

Must be dependable, on time, and ready to work scheduled shifts

Must be able to communicate clearly and professionally with guests, coworkers, and management

Must be willing to follow PJ’s Coffee standards, recipes, procedures, and safety expectations

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
