Position Summary

Baristas keep the mountain moving! Baristas make hot and cold beverages, often tailored to the guests' preferences, at Pinnacles coffee shop, located throughout Mt. Bachelor. Baristas also serve up wonderful pastries, warm smiles, and exceptional guest service.

Major Responsibilities/ Daily Essential Functions

  • Ensure each customer receives outstanding service by providing a friendly environment by greeting and acknowledging every guest, answering commonly asked questions, and moving the guest through the service process promptly.

  • Provide guests with drink orders while following all recipes.

  • Has general knowledge of coffee drinks and preparation methods.

  • Serve canned alcoholic beverages.

  • Use the POS computer system to ring in all items correctly and properly complete transactions.

  • Upsell items and recommend baked goods.

  • Maintain a professional and personable appearance.

  • Accurately ring in all items and adhere to department standards and accounting practices.

  • Can handle a fast-paced, potentially high-pressure environment.

  • Must be able to multitask, prioritize, organize, and stock.

  • Clean and sanitize barista station, guest seating areas, equipment, and tools

  • Accountable for accurate timekeeping. Responsible for clocking in and out with employee pass.

  • Completes any reasonable task assigned by the supervisor.

  • Observes mountain-wide policies found in the Employee Handbook.

Secondary Function

  • Keep the manager informed when items are getting low and need to be re-ordered.

  • Snow removal duties.

  • Occasional bussing duties.

Job Scope

Position does not have any supervisory or decision-making responsibilities. Provide problem-solving assistance to less experienced staff.

Interpersonal Contacts

Position will have constant guest and employee interaction.

Specific Job Skills/Certifications

  • License/Certifications: Oregon Food Handler's Card and OLCC permit

  • Technical: Competent with computers and willing to learn the Point of Sale system.

  • Physical Capabilities: Able to stand and have constant use of hands and wrists for long periods of time. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Additional: Must have a positive attitude. Flexible with hours and days of work. Able to work any hours of the day, any days of the week. Cashiering and money handling, barista experience, and customer service experience required.

Education/Related Experience

  • Minimum education required: Some High School, Diploma, or GED preferred.

  • Minimum time in related position: 1+ years; cashiering, barista, and customer service experience required.
