County Location: Milestone Building -Kannapolis, NC, DSS Cannon - Kannapolis, NC, Government Center - Concord, NC
This is a part-time contract fitness instructor position. The starting hiring range for this position is $35 per hour.
2-5 hours per week. Schedule will dependent upon class, activity scheduling, and location.
We are looking for passionate energetic health and fitness instructors to join our dedicated team. In your role, you will assist in delivering high-quality fitness instruction, helping clients achieve their health and wellness goals all while making a positive impact on our community's fitness journey. They should also be eager to learn, grow their knowledge base and strong customer service skills.

General Definition of Work:
Plans and facilitates exercise classes for which contracted employee is certified. Programs will utilize resources and equipment provided by Cabarrus County Active Living and Parks under the regular supervision of the Wellness Supervisors or Benefits Manager.

Essential Functions/ Typical Tasks
Leading fitness programs to a wide range demographic of our community members in a variety of settings including but not limited to Active Living Centers, Senior Centers, Parks, LunchPlus Club sites, Community Centers, various County buildings and other organizations.

  • Design and lead fitness classes
  • Modify exercise programs for all ages and fitness levels
  • Attend all scheduled fitness classes or find appropriate substitute for absences
  • Attend paid instructor meetings
  • Instructs and monitors participants regarding safe exercise principles and technique when participating in class
  • May be asked to teach classes at special events
  • Perform related tasks are required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of instructor's applied specialty; ability to organize effective exercise programming for participants; ability to communicate with participants and staff; ability to present ideas effectively both orally and in writing; ability to solve problems within scope of responsibility; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public; and ability to attend work regularly.
Minimum Education / Experience requirements
Education and Experience
Possession of active fitness certification in designated area. 6 months of experience working with older adults preferred.
Applicants who intend to personal train or utilize resistance training are required to have an active fitness certification and Adult CPR/AED certification.
