Job description

Position: Assistant Tennis Coach
Status: Part Time
Reports To: Athletic Director
St. Michael the Archangel Catholic High School in Lee's Summit, Missouri is seeking an Assistant Tennis Coach who will be responsible for providing leadership and guidance to student athletes on the Tennis team. The coach will instruct student-athletes in fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same time, student-athletes shall receive instruction that will lead to the formulation of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence. The Assistant Tennis Coach reports to and works closely with the Head Tennis Coach. The Assistant Tennis Coach is responsible for the health, safety and welfare of the student-athletes participating on the Tennis Team.
Essential Duties:
  • Available to attend all-day tournaments during the season (typically 4-7 all-day tournaments).
  • Available to attend afternoon tennis matches during the season (typically 4-7 afternoon matches).
  • Able to transport student athletes to and from competitions via the school van.
  • Assist the head coach to instruct athletes in all aspects of the game of golf.
  • Run practice independently in the case of the head coach's absence.
  • Follow established procedures in the event of an injury. Model sportsman-like behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards athletes, officials, and spectators.
  • Participate in special activities to include parent's night, banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies.

Qualifications:
  • Coaching experience at the high school or middle school level.
  • NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching, Concussion Training, Sudden Cardiac Arrest Training, First Aid/CPR.

Assistant Tennis Coach must show competency in the following:
  • Experience in teaching and modeling character and responsible behavior
  • Positive, high energy, and committed
  • Partners well with parents, staff, community leaders, etc.
  • View success not just as winning, but as helping team members to reach goals
  • Must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport.
