Role description:
Arcadis is seeking a Senior Asset Management Engineer to join our Resilience Water Team and work on a variety of engineering and consulting engagements within our Asset Management practice nationally. This flexible hybrid role can be based out of our Hanover, MD; Arlington, VA; Washington, DC; or Virginia Beach, VA office locations.
The Senior Asset Management Engineer will lead and deliver technical asset management and infrastructure engineering projects for water and wastewater utilities. Candidates should possess a strong understanding of engineering principles related to asset management, including asset inventory development, condition assessment, criticality evaluation, risk-based decision making, life-cycle cost analysis, reliability engineering, capital improvement planning, and infrastructure renewal strategies. This role requires applying engineering judgment to evaluate infrastructure systems, analyze asset performance data, develop technical recommendations, and support utility clients in optimizing the performance, reliability, and longevity of critical water and wastewater assets.
The selected candidate will work independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams of engineers, scientists, and technical specialists to develop engineering solutions that support utility planning, infrastructure investment, and long-term asset sustainability.
Role accountabilities:
This role is responsible for supporting the development, technical evaluation, and implementation of asset management programs and infrastructure improvement initiatives for municipal water and wastewater utilities. The successful candidate will utilize engineering analysis, data evaluation, and technical assessment methodologies to support utility planning, infrastructure renewal, and risk-based decision-making. Some travel may be required for project site visits, client meetings, field investigations, and industry conferences.
Other responsibilities include:
- Develop technical asset management plans and infrastructure investment strategies.
- Perform engineering assessments of water and wastewater assets, including condition, risk, reliability, and remaining useful life analyses.
- Analyze asset, GIS, maintenance, and inspection data to support engineering planning and decision-making.
- Evaluate infrastructure systems using life-cycle cost analysis, consequence-of-failure assessments, and engineering methodologies.
- Develop technical recommendations for asset rehabilitation, replacement, renewal, and capital improvement programs.
- Prepare engineering reports, technical memoranda, and client deliverables.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Management, or a related engineering discipline. Minimum of seven years of experience delivering water, wastewater, civil, environmental, or asset management engineering projects with an engineering consulting firm or municipal utility. Demonstrated experience applying engineering principles to infrastructure planning, asset management, condition assessment, and capital improvement programs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain
- IAM and/or PMP certification.
- Experience with GIS, CMMS, Power BI, Tableau, or other utility asset management and analytical platforms.
- Experience managing projects and proficiency with Microsoft Project.
- Experience supporting water and wastewater infrastructure planning, renewal, and capital improvement programs.
- Knowledge of utility asset management best practices, risk assessment methodologies, and engineering principles.
