Pay: Between $47.50 and $50 per hour plus shift differentials!

Schedule: Evening Shift (3 p.m. - 11 p.m.)

About the Position

Position is primarily responsible for delivery of resident care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. This position directs and guides resident teaching, activities of ancillary personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing. May supervise one or more members of the Nursing team. May also include supervision in the care given by Nursing Students in conjunction with their instructor.

Key Duties

  • Assesses physical, psychological and social dimensions of residents.
  • Applies knowledge of normal aging, health promotion, special needs of older adults, health deficits and use available resources in assignment process.
  • Perform UAIโ€™s on prospective residents and with changes in condition of residents.
  • Summarizes assessment data and plans and implements care based on assessment data.
  • Initiates care based on assessment data, applies gerontological nursing knowledge of specific illness, injuries, diseases, human behavior and appropriate standards of care.
  • Will assist Health Care Center nurses in the evening hours with order entry daily.
  • Works with doctors in the clinic and getting residents to clinic for their appointments.
  • Utilizes all available resources in planning care and consults as necessary with appropriate members of the Health Team.
  • Demonstrates clinical judgment and technical skills in accordance with established policies and procedures. Intervenes with proper technique, procedure and safety precautions to meet individual needs of resident.
  • Documents nursing intervention, resident response, effectiveness, complications, etc.; communicates information to physician and other Health Team members.
  • Assists residents in maintaining independent living including involving family and other support as necessary.
  • Reviews resident and family knowledge of normal aging, health promotion, disease, illness and readiness for discharge. Assesses resident and support system for ability to provide care.
  • Identifies needs for care at home, or alternatives such as outpatient treatment or Home Health and initiates referrals as necessary.
  • Performs reviews of MARS of clinic residents.
  • Provides self-care instruction and helps residents schedule outside medical appointments.
  • Identifies necessary health maintenance measures to be communicated and elicit support of Health Team members who can inform resident of available sources

Job Requirements

  1. Must be a graduate of an approved Registered Nurse Program.
  2. Must have current licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia / Compact State.
  3. Must have CPR certification.
  4. Must possess ability to deal tactfully with residents, staff and family members.
