Join our community and experience Emerson College! Media Psychology Major Program at Emerson College is looking for part-time faculty to teach our Introduction to Media Psychology Course during Fall 2026 (September 2nd to December 17th). Successful candidates will have a firm grasp of foundational concepts in psychology and/or media, including:
  • core concepts and theoretical foundations of psychological science

  • complex interactions among human behaviors, media, and technology, including how mediaproducts are created, used, consumed, and shared

  • psychological and social impacts of media and technology on individuals, groups, societies, andcultures

  • competency in media, information, and digital literacies

  • ethical and social implications of media and technology, including issues of diversity, equity,inclusion, and belonging

Course Description for Introduction to Media Psychology (MP110)

An interdisciplinary first-year seminar introducing students to the application of psychological science to analyze media design, production, and consumption, as well as the complex relationship between the individual and the media they create and consume. The course applies principles of learning, motivation, persuasion, attention and cognition, and personal and social identity to analyze the use and psychological impact of emerging technologies. We explore human motivation (e.g., What makes us click?), life in an attention economy, technological design, fundamentals of media literacy, and ways of seeing and being in virtual spaces.

Submission process

Complete applications that include a cover letter, CV, and evidence of teaching effectiveness will be reviewed. A PhD or advanced degree in a related field is preferred.The compensation for this course will be $8,410.
