Project Overview:

We are building high performing teams to deliver complex EPC heavy civil project and looking for motivated, hands-on, collaborative innovators, doers, and problem solvers. The projects are hydro power generation with scopes including roadway development, significant structures including dams, spillways, tunnel waterways, inlet/outlet structures, hydromechanical equipment, mechanical and electrical systems, and site facilities and buildings. This is your opportunity to be part of history making projects.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will oversee the development and preparation of purchase orders. You will act in accordance with Bechtel and project purchasing procedures. You will participate in negotiations, solve problems, and communicate with suppliers to ensure compliance with purchase order requirements and achieve the required service to meet project needs.  This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership. #LI-VB1

Major Responsibilities:
  • Lead all project purchasing activities for equipment, materials, and related services in support of project execution.
  • Coordinate closely with Engineering, Construction, Estimating, and Project Controls to execute procurement strategies and material requisitions.
  • Perform commercial evaluations of proposals and coordinate technical evaluations to support supplier selection recommendations.
  • Form, issue, administer, and close purchase orders in accordance with project and corporate requirements.
  • Ensure purchase order terms and conditions comply with Bechtel policies, project requirements, and contractual obligations.
  • Administer changes to purchase orders, evaluating impacts on scope, cost, schedule, and risk.
  • Monitor supplier performance, including engineering data submission, manufacturing progress, expediting, logistics, and delivery.
  • Perform duties in compliance with Bechtel directives, management instructions, procedures, and applicable project requirements.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Understanding of purchasing, agreement / order drafting (with legal support as required), administration and negotiation of changes, effective correspondence, planning and scheduling.
  • Working knowledge purchase order administration, home office and field procedures and documents relating to a multi-discipline construction projects. 
  • General knowledge of engineering/construction industry contracting, purchasing, and material management practices, applicable government and commercial regulations and practices, and industry policies, procedures and work practices. Possesses experience and knowledge of project purchasing and PO administration activities.
