Job description

Although we are still enjoying the warmth of summer, preparations are already underway for one of the Zoo's most anticipated events of the year, Christmas at the Zoo! We are hiring Holiday Lighting Team Members to help create a memorable holiday experience for our guests by joining our Holiday Lighting Team.


Members will be responsible for hanging Christmas lights, repairing displays and assisting with placement of displays for Christmas at the Zoo event. Once holiday lights are installed and Christmas at the Zoo begins, team members will join the Custodial or Park Operations Department. Shift schedules may vary. Candidates must have flexible availability to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. The pay rate for this exciting, entry-level position is $13.00/ hr.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the installation, repair, and maintenance of holiday lighting displays for Christmas at the Zoo (CATZ).
  • Removing lights from storage, checking bulbs, and replacing bulbs as needed.
  • Assisting with Christmas tree setup, including hanging lights and decorations.
  • Following all Zoo safety policies, procedures, and guest experience standards.

What We're Looking For

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • A positive attitude and commitment to creating exceptional guest experiences.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, which include inclement weather, cold and hot temperatures, and humidity.
  • Must be comfortable working on ladders, uneven terrain, and elevated areas while safely installing lights.
  • Must be able to lift and move items up to 25 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently.
