Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary
The purpose of this position is to assist the Reference Librarians, provide support and assistance to students with class assignments and reference needs using online databases and/or print resources. This is accomplished by staffing the reference desk as scheduled.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in any academic area.
Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
General knowledge of computers, internet and library research.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Ability to answer telephone, email and chat inquiries as well as scheduling library instruction sessions.
Ability to learn how to use the library catalog and databases.
Ability to use computer software, especially Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications
Two (2) years experience in a library environment.
Experience in serving a diverse population, including first-time college students.
Knowledge of an academic library.
