Wind River Environmental is seeking a dependable, mechanically inclined Plant Operator I to join our wastewater treatment operations team in Taunton, MA.


This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys solving problems, and wants to build a long-term career operating critical environmental infrastructure. Every day, our operators play a direct role in protecting public health and the environment by ensuring wastewater is treated safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory requirements.


We are looking for individuals who are reliable, eager to learn, and capable of working independently while maintaining high standards of safety, compliance, and professionalism.


Shift: Part-Time with 1st and 2nd Shift Flexibility 


What You'll Do

As a Plant Operator I, you will work alongside experienced operators while developing the skills needed to independently operate wastewater treatment processes and equipment.


Responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring and operating wastewater, sludge, and FOG treatment systems 
  • Observing plant conditions and making process adjustments as directed 
  • Monitoring control panels, gauges, meters, and instrumentation 
  • Performing routine laboratory testing including TSS, COD, pH, conductivity, and related analyses 
  • Maintaining accurate plant logs, reports, and operational records 
  • Assisting with receiving and processing incoming waste streams Monitoring pumps, valves, blowers, boilers, and related process equipment 
  • Identifying potential equipment or process issues and assisting with troubleshooting and repairs 
  • Supporting plant maintenance, housekeeping, and operational excellence initiatives 
  • Ensuring all work is performed safely and in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Valid and current Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator certification recognized by the state DEP 
  • Valid driver's license Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of pumps, valves, blowers, hydraulics, or similar equipment
  • Ability to perform laboratory testing and maintain accurate documentation Basic math and computer skills (Word, Excel) 
  • Ability to pass a drug screen and physical examination 
  • Ability to obtain confined space entry and forklift certifications if not already certified

The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $22.00 - $25.00 hourly at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.
