Employers may hire part-time CDL drivers for local deliveries, school bus routes, or as replacement drivers during peak periods. Requirements typically include holding a valid CDL, a clean driving record, and sometimes passing a background check or medical exam.

Part-time CDL holders typically earn between $15 and $25 per hour, depending on experience, location, and the type of freight or vehicle they operate.
