Job Summary
The supervisor oversees a team of personnel including agents and mechanics responsible for the operation, inspection, repair, and preventative maintenance of passenger boarding bridges and conveyor systems at the airport. this role ensures all equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. The supervisor provides hands-on technical support, coordinate daily work assignments, and serves as the primary liaison between mechanics, operations leadership, and airline customers.
Responsibilities
  • Lead, train, and supervise mechanics maintaining passenger boarding bridges (PBBs) and/or conveyor belt systems.
  • Assign, monitor, and fully review daily work orders, preventative maintenance schedules, and emergency repairs.
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Oversee parts inventory, maintenance records, and compliance documentation.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety standards, OSHA regulations, airport authority requirements, and company SOPs.
  • Provide coaching and performance feedback to team members to drive accountability and professional growth.
  • Act as point of contact for station operations, airline customers, and contractors regarding equipment status and downtime.
  • Support budget planning, cost controls, and vendor management for parts and services.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support when required.

Minimum Requirements
  • HS Diploma, GED or Equivalent (technical or trade school preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience in Industrial maintenance, mechanical systems, or airport ground support equipment.
  • 1+ years of supervisory experience or lead mechanic experience.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and PLC systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Proficiency with CMMS or maintenance tracking systems
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to attain and sustain an Airport I.D. Badge
  • Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to read, write and fluently speak and understand the English language.

Preferred Skills
  • Associate Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven ability to manage and motivate personnel.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
  • Employees work in the assured management areas of baggage, at repair stations, in and around jetbridges, or at airfields and often must meet strict deadlines to maintain flight schedules.
  • Employees will be working with and exposed to the baggage handling system, jetbridge, mechanical parts, and vibration.
  • Employees may be exposed to various noise levels due to aircraft engines and equipment.
  • Employees bend, lean, and frequently reach ladders and scaffolding.
  • Employees are required to regularly speak and hear.
  • Employees are often required to reach with their hands and arms.
  • Employees may be required to perform a variety of activities that could include standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crawling, and climbing throughout their day.
  • Employees frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds with the help of teammates.
  • Employees will lift parts and tools for long periods of time and handle equipment such as transportation systems.
