What is a part time cardiologist?

A Part-Time Cardiologist is a medical professional specializing in heart and cardiovascular conditions who works fewer hours than a full-time practitioner. They may provide patient consultations, diagnose heart-related issues, and perform procedures on a limited schedule. These roles are ideal for physicians seeking better work-life balance or semi-retirement while still practicing medicine. Part-time cardiologists may work in hospitals, private clinics, or telemedicine settings. Their responsibilities remain similar to full-time cardiologists but with reduced hours or caseloads.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time cardiologist?

To thrive as a Part Time Cardiologist, you need a medical degree, board certification in cardiology, and a demonstrated expertise in diagnosing and managing heart conditions. Familiarity with cardiac imaging tools, electronic health records (EHRs), and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) certification is typically required. Exceptional communication, teamwork, and time management skills are vital for coordinating care with other healthcare professionals and optimizing patient outcomes. These qualifications ensure safe, effective patient care while accommodating the flexible scheduling demands of part-time work.

What are the typical work schedules and responsibilities for a part time cardiologist?

Part Time Cardiologists usually work flexible hours that may include mornings, afternoons, or select days to accommodate both patient needs and their own availability. Responsibilities often include conducting patient consultations, interpreting diagnostic tests, developing treatment plans, and participating in team meetings or case discussions. You may also be called upon for inpatient rounds or emergency consults, depending on the employer. This structure allows cardiologists to maintain clinical expertise while balancing other personal or professional commitments.

Job description

Medical Doctors Only Apply. A Cardiology Physician Noninvasive Cardiologist practice is seeking a qualified physician for Houston, TX. This and other physician jobs brought to you by ExactMD.

MET Healthcare Solutions, a URAC accredited IRO, is currently looking for new providers of your specialty in the Houston area to join our Network of physicians to conduct medical chart reviews and second opinion evaluations.

Benefits include:

  •          Flexible Hours- performed when and where you choose
  •          Improved cash flow with consistent increased referrals
  •          No medical prescriptions or follow ups required
  •          Earn an average of $8,000 working part time

The reviews do not require you to treat the patient but only evaluate their current condition and the medical necessity of the requested treatment/service by utilizing your knowledge, experience and evidence based guidelines.

We provide you with all available documents for the case and a preliminary report which includes a summary of the case.  What we need from you is your professional opinion as to whether the requested treatment/services are medically necessary based on the guidelines and any other applicable references to support your opinion.

Our current Pain Medicine physicians can complete a review in approximately 20 minutes on average.

Each standard review, which is due within 3 days, is reimbursed at a rate of $150 and the expedited reviews, due in 24 hours, is $250.

Neither of these reviews require any peer to peer phone calls or additional time requirements.

In addition to these, we also have expert medical opinion reviews which has the same requirements but includes a little more detail in the decision and is reimbursed at a higher rate of $300 for standard cases and $400 for expedited.

We also have second opinion evaluations where you actually examine the claimant and provide your opinion on the individual’s medical condition or work-related injury based on your exam and documents provided.  On average the exam takes 20 minutes to complete and does not require any follow ups, medications, or on call duties.

Currently, our physicians that perform both the reviews and evaluations are making an average of $8,000 per month working around their schedules.  You have the ability to accept as many or as few cases as you have time for.
