PARKS & RECREATION

PART-TIME SUMMER CAMP COUNSELOR
$13.24 PER HR.
This is a part-time position with no benefits.
About the Role:
As a Summer Camp Counselor at Singleton Community Center, you'll lead and inspire campers in a variety of age-appropriate activities that foster learning, creativity, and fun. Reporting to the Assistant Camp Director, Program Coordinator, and Youth & Family Program Manager, you'll ensure a safe and enriching camp experience while being a positive role model for all participants.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership. supervision, direction and guidance for campers.
  • Administer discipline when necessary and according to established guidelines.
  • Will perform work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively to parents and/or guardians.
  • Proper maintenance and care of facility and equipment.
  • Ability to administer first aid when necessary and complete designated documentation.
  • Ability to work morning, afternoons and/or evening shifts between 7:00am and 8:00pm.
  • Required to work seamlessly across the department, providing assistance whenever needed to ensure the successful fulfilment of Parks & Recreations mission.
  • Ability to function independently, attentive to detail, work under pressure and prioritize resources.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively with a variety of individuals.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must love children and be able to relate to them.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have experience working with children leading games, sports, and/or arts and crafts.
  • Must be capable of supervising a large group of children (1:16 maximum ratio).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively with a variety of individuals.

Education, Training and Experience:
  • Pursuing or completed a degree in Physical Education, Recreation, or other related field.

Special Requirements:
  • Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification or must obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Must pass a driver's license check, background check and a physical exam (including a drug screen)
