Job description

Oneida Health is seeking a Part-time Dietary Aide for the evening shift (3pm - 8pm) in its Hospital Café. The Dietary Aide may work anywhere on the property where food is prepared. This person will assist in the setup and serving of food from counters and steamtables. The primary function will be the setup and assembly of meals from the tray line or kitchen. Duties will include cleaning and sanitizing equipment and workstations. The ideal candidate will have experience in food production and be serious about cleanliness and safety in the kitchen.

General Responsibilities:
  • Sets up stations with entrées, soups, salads, bread, condiments, other food products and utensils
  • Serves and replenishes food from counters and steam tables, and breaks down stations at the end of meal periods
  • Reads production orders on color-coded menu cards on trays to determine items to place on trays, and places items such as eating utensils, napkins, and condiments on trays
  • Portions and places food servings on plates and trays according to the diet list on the menu card
  • Examine the filled tray for completeness and place it on a cart, dumbwaiter, or conveyor belt
  • Cleans and sanitizes workstations, counters, steam tables, and other equipment
  • Brews coffee and tea, restocks other beverage areas
  • Interacts with customers in the serving and dining areas
  • Assists customers with opening containers and cutting food when requested
  • Washes dishes and cleans work area, tables, cabinets, and ovens
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
