Part-time Driver, Position Summary
The Part-Time Driver supports The Brook Hill School by providing safe and reliable transportation for students and staff to and from school-sponsored activities. Driving assignments are typically scheduled in advance for field trips, academic competitions, and occasional events. This position is as-needed, with no guaranteed hours, paid hourly, and is best suited for individuals with flexible daytime availability who are committed to safety, professionalism, and representing Brook Hill well in the community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Safely operate school-owned buses or vehicles to transport students, faculty, and staff to authorized destinations.
  • Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
  • Follow all federal, state, and local traffic laws, as well as Brook Hill transportation policies and procedures.
  • Maintain order and ensure student safety while in transit.
  • Communicate professionally with trip sponsors, staff, and students to ensure timely and coordinated travel.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle and report any damage or incidents to the Director of Transportation

Qualifications and Requirements
  • Minimum age: 21 years old.
  • Valid Texas Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B or C with Passenger (P) endorsement.
  • Ability to pass a background check and required drug and alcohol screenings.
  • Clean driving record (no traffic violations in last 5 years and no drug or alcohol related driving convictions and no at-fault traffic accidents)
  • Current Department of Transportation (DOT) medical certification.
  • Prior experience operating a 20- or 40-passenger bus preferred.
  • Friendly, professional demeanor and commitment to student safety.
  • Flexibility to accept driving assignments as needed; most are scheduled in advance during school hours
