What is a part time breakfast job?

Part time breakfast jobs are positions where employees work during the morning hours, typically preparing, serving, or assisting with breakfast service in restaurants, cafes, hotels, or hospitality venues. These roles can include serving customers, cooking, cleaning, and setting up for the day's service. They are ideal for those who prefer early shifts and have other commitments later in the day. Part time hours vary, but they generally involve working fewer than 30-35 hours a week, often starting early in the morning and finishing before midday.

What are the typical responsibilities and challenges for someone working a part-time breakfast shift in the food service industry?

Part-time breakfast staff are often responsible for preparing and serving breakfast items, setting up and breaking down the dining area, ensuring food safety, and providing prompt, friendly service to early-morning guests. A common challenge is managing high customer volume in a short time frame, as breakfast hours can be especially busy. Teamwork is crucial, as staff must coordinate with kitchen and front-of-house colleagues to maintain efficiency and quality. Many employers offer training and opportunities to move into full-time or supervisory roles for those who excel in their position.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time breakfast attendant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Breakfast Attendant, you need customer service skills, basic food handling knowledge, and often a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment and food safety certifications like ServSafe are typically required. Strong communication, attention to detail, and a friendly demeanor help create a welcoming environment for guests. These skills ensure efficient service, food safety compliance, and a positive guest experience during busy breakfast hours.

Job description

Description

  • JOIN OUR BREAKFAST TEAM!

Mornings are busy at Embassy Suites-and breakfast is an important part of our guests' experience.

We are looking for a dependable, energetic AM Hospitality Busser to help keep our complimentary breakfast service clean, organized, stocked, and welcoming. This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys staying active, helping teammates, and taking care of guests.

If you like fast-paced work, take pride in keeping things clean, and can be counted on to show up ready to work early in the morning, this may be a great fit.

Requirements

  • Clear and reset tables quickly and thoroughly throughout breakfast service.
  • Remove dishes, glassware, silverware, and other items from guest tables.
  • Keep dining tables, chairs, service areas, and breakfast areas clean and guest-ready.
  • Assist with stocking dishes, silverware, glassware, napkins, and other breakfast supplies.
  • Support servers, cooks, attendants, and other Food & Beverage team members during busy periods.
  • Respond promptly and courteously when guests need assistance.
  • Maintain clean and organized bussing and service stations.
  • Help keep floors and surrounding areas clean and free of spills or safety hazards.
  • Assist with breakfast setup and breakdown as assigned.
  • Follow hotel food safety, sanitation, uniform, and workplace safety standards.
  • Complete other related Food & Beverage duties within the position as assigned.
What We're Looking For

You'll be successful in this position if you are:

  • Reliable - our breakfast team depends on everyone being ready when service begins.
  • Fast and organized - you can keep moving while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Guest-focused - you are friendly, helpful, and comfortable interacting with hotel guests.
  • A team player - you notice when teammates need help and step in.
  • Detail-oriented - clean tables, stocked stations, and an organized dining room matter.
  • Motivated - you stay productive without needing constant reminders.

Previous restaurant, hotel, bussing, or food-service experience is preferred, but we value reliability, work ethic, and a willingness to learn.

Schedule

This is an AM position supporting our daily complimentary breakfast operation.

Candidates must be comfortable with early-morning shifts and have schedule flexibility based on hotel business needs, including weekends and holidays.

Our hotel serves airport travelers, convention attendees, families, and groups throughout the year, so breakfast can move quickly-especially during high-occupancy and convention periods.
