Job description

Description
The LEARN LAB is seeking a highly motivated part-time assistant research scientist. The selected candidate will receive $22/hour for 15 hours/week and can work remotely. The goal of the project is to develop a large dataset of transcripts of parent-child interaction. The assistant research scientist will be involved in creating and editing transcripts. The research assistant will be supervised by the PI (Dr. Sudha Arunachalam).
Position Responsibilities:
  • Edit transcripts of parent-child interaction using CHAT format, a specialized transcription system developed for facilitating analysis of language data.

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly base rate for this position is $22/hour. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
Per NYU's remote-work policy, this position is expected to be fully remote.
This position has no supervisory responsibilties.
Qualifications
  • Coursework in linguistics or communication sciences and disorders, including phonetics and language acquisition OR equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of CHAT transcription system.
  • Experience working with children or with listening to child speech.
